So far all good. To this point I have only had an initial consultation and MRIs. I saw Daniel Marsland. He seemed very good and thorough. He was upfront in saying he was quite unsure what was causing my problem as it was an unusual presentation. I get severe pain if I try to run fast, no issues at all if I don't run but instead play squash and rackeball, even with 10+ and sometimes 15+ sessions a week with a lot of on court running. Just 1 or 2 Kms on a treadmill at 15kph and I'm in trouble for a few weeks. I have been overwhelmed by how well everything has gone to date, from my initial referral through to surgery last week. Hannah the medical secretary has been outstanding and incredibly kind and efficient with communication, helping with appointments and questions and the Patient Portal is a brilliant way to review bookings and letters in one place. From my first appointment to discuss my case through to leaving post-surgery, everything has been excellent. At all times I have been treated so well, and everyone has been very helpful. Mr Elliot was very nice and had a great manner about him at my first appointment, he was really clear and spoke in a way which I could understand and when I left, I knew exactly what my options were and what to expect from the surgery. On the day of surgery, from arrival at The Hampshire Clinic to when I left later that day, the care shown by everyone was exceptional, everyone was kind, empathetic and caring and at all stages I knew what was happening. Mr Elliott (Consultant) and Mr Lipner (Anesthetist) were exceptionally kind and thorough, and their expertise in their field was clear and again I had no questions after having spoken with them both. Mr Elliot is an exceptional surgeon, he has a very calm and confident air about him, which immediately put my anxieties away. The whole process from booking in with Hannah to David the anaesthetist, surgery with Mr Elliot, and the after care has been exemplary. The recovery room staff, the ward staff and all the lovely ladies in the Outpatient department make you feel well cared for are always happy. He saw me on short notice, identified a complex ankle fracture and ligament injury that a previous team missed, and performed a fixation shortly after. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and explains everything clearly. Being in the trade…. So to speak, makes it twice as hard for me, and undoubtedly for Mr Marsland!! But, he has done a fantastic job on my very unhappy and rather deformed right foot. He saw me at short notice when I was having problems, and has been incredibly professional, but also very approachable.
